There’s no shortage of smarthome products these days, but for those who prefer to make their own, LittleBits launched a DIY kit back in 2014. The company has today launched a $100 version aimed at kids, with components that snap together magnetically.
The Rule Your Room Kit can be used to make a variety of devices using a combination of supplied components and existing toys and other objects from around the home. These include a safe with a hidden trigger, a programmable pop-up puppet and a moving collage.
The kit contains seven ‘bits’ (components), such as a servo and sound trigger, 19 accessories and a booklet. A free companion app shows more inventions that can be created with the kit, including ones created by other kit owners, as well as acting as a remote control.
