Logitech announced this evening that it is acquiring popular microphone company Blue. Blue makes a handful of audio products that are popular among various segments of the market, including musicians, podcasters, and other content creators…

According to Logitech, the deal will have a total cash value of $117 million. Blue will join the company’s existing portfolio of brands, which includes Ultimate Ears, Jaybird, and ASTRO Gaming.

Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell touted in a blog post that its acquisition of Blue Microphones allows it to accelerate its entry into the market, serving as an “adjacent opportunity” for Logitech to expand its product portfolio:

Meanwhile, in its own blog post, Blue says that it will “keep creating cool stuff” for its users, but that its newfound relationship with Logitech comes with additional “possibilities” for the future.

Blue is best known for its Blue Yeti and Snowball microphone lines, which are commonly used among podcasters and content creators everywhere.

Blue CEO John Maier:

“With Logitech’s vast resources and incredible reach, Blue will be on a much bigger stage from the beginning. The end result is fulfilling our ultimate purpose – helping as many of our users find and amplify their voice as we can!”
