When the 12.9-inch iPad Pro was unveiled last September, Logitech announced its Create keyboard case the same day. The USP of the keyboard is that it uses the Smart Connector for both power and data connections, so the keyboard doesn’t ever need to be charged and you avoid the delay you get with Bluetooth pairing.
The company took rather longer to support the smaller iPad Pro, but now has a Create keyboard available for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro …
The keyboard is available in a choice of black or blue cases, and includes a holder for the Apple Pencil. It has an edge-to-edge design to allow the keys to be as large as possible, and Logitech says that the mechanism is scissor keys with 1.4mm of key travel. Adjustable backlighting is available, with an 8-second timeout to conserve power.
The keyboard weighs 426g, and measures 248x178x23mm. It’s available in seven international layouts: US, German, French, Swiss, Spanish, Italian and Scandinavian.
However, you may want to hold fire until we’ve had a chance to test it. Neither Jeremy nor myself were overly impressed with the 12.9-inch version.
If you have the larger iPad Pro, there’s now a mechanical keyboard case available for it from Razer for $170.
