The new Lost in Space is a Netflix series that premiered in April of 2018. It is a reimagining of a series of the same name, which was on from 1965 to 1968, and that was inspired by a novel called The Swiss Family Robinson, which is from the year 1812.

This exciting sci-fi story follows the Robinson family, a group that gets, well, lost in space. Since the second season dropped last month, we thought it would be fun to look back at all of the other television series and films and such that have featured this cute and cool cast.

Molly Parker As Maureen Robinson

In this show, Molly Parker plays the mother of the group, Maureen Robinson. She is an aerospace engineer who uses her quick thinking and determination in order to stay focused on the mission: reach and colonize Alpha Centauri.

Previously, this actress has been seen in several other shows and movies. In 2006, she was Sister Rose / Sister Thorn in The Wicker Man. In 2009, she had a small part in The Road. From 2004 to 2006, she was Alma Garret in Deadwood. And from 2014 to 2016, she was Jackie Sharp on House of Cards.

Toby Stephens As John Robinson

This ex-Navy SEAL is the father of the group, and in real life, he is an actor who has been in plays, series and movies in the U.K. and the U.S.

In 1996, he was in Twelfth Night as Duke Orsino, and in 2000, he was in Space Cowboys as a Young Frank. Two of his more notable roles include playing Edward Fairfax Rochester in the BBC show Jane Eyre and playing the bad guy, Gustav Graves, in a James Bond flick from 2002, Die Another Day.

Maxwell Jenkins As Will Robinson

“Danger, Will Robinson!” This iconic line is spoken by the robot within this story, since there is a special connection between it and this young character. And in this Netflix series, Will Robinson is portrayed by Maxwell Jenkins.

This actor started his career when he was just eight years old, on the show Betrayal. After that, he went on to appear in NCIS: New Orleans, Chicago Fire and Sense8 as a Young Will. A fun fact is that his parents are Julie Greenberg and Jeff Jenkins, who used to be a Ringling clown, and they started Midnight Circus, which helps to raise money for parks in Chicago!

Mina Sundwall As Penny Robinson

Another member of this family is Penny Robinson, who is played by an actress named Mina Sundwall. She can sometimes feel left out, since her brother and her mother are both into science and math and since her father and her sister have shared hobbies and important jobs out in the field. However, she is learning more and more about how vital she is to her loved ones and to the overall mission. Plus, she wrote a book called Lost In Space… How meta!

In 2012, she was in a series called Celebrity Ghost Stories. In 2014, she was in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. And in 2015, she was in three movies: Maggie’s Plan, Freeheld and #Horror.

Taylor Russell As Judy Robinson

The oldest Robinson child is Judy, who is a doctor and who (SPOILER ALERT) is now the captain of a ship full of children from the Resolute. And while John is her adoptive father, these two have a lot in common, such as being very protective, and share similar interests, such as running.

Recently, this actress, Taylor Russell, has been in scary and thrilling films, as well. In 2018, she was Ashley in Down a Dark Hall, in 2019, she was Zoey Davis in Escape Room, and this year, she will reprise that role in Escape Room 2. Additionally, she has appeared in TV shows like Emily Owens, M.D., Falling Skies and Dead of Summer.

Ignacio Serricchio As Don West

Don West is a mechanic (who works on the spaceships when things go wrong), a smuggler (who has not always made the best decisions) and an honorary part of the Robinson family (since he has been through a lot with this group). Oh, and he has a pet chicken named Debbie.

And this actor, Ignacio Serricchio, has been in several shows and films over the years, such as House in 2005, Ghost Whisperer from 2007 to 2008, Quarantine 2: Terminal in 2011, The Young and the Restless from 2012 to 2014, Bones from 2014 to 2017, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce in 2017 and The Mule in 2018.

Parker Posey As June Harris / Dr. Smith

This character, who is played by Parker Posey, stole her sister’s identity in order to get on the Resolute, and now, she is pretending to be Dr. Zachary Smith (which she changed to Zoe), a therapist.

In real life, Posey has been in tons of works throughout her career. For instance, in 1993, she was in Coneheads as Stephanie and in Dazed and Confused as Darla Marks; she was Patricia Eden in You’ve Got Mail in 1998; and she was Jennifer Jolie in Scream 3 in 2000.

Brian Steele As The Robot

Of course, there is the Robot, which is an alien robot, as well as a friend to the Robinsons, due to his connection with Will.

This character is played by Brian Steele, who is 6’7” and who has portrayed a good amount of unique beings and creatures in his life. For example, he was the Sasquatch in Jack Links Jerky commercials for awhile. He was the bigfoot in Harry and the Hendersons. He was Mr. Wink in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. He was the T-600 in Terminator Salvation. He was the creature in Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.

Douglas Hodge As Officer Hastings

A supporting character who has been around for some of the excitement on this show would be Officer Hastings, an intelligence officer on the Resolute, and this character is portrayed by Douglas Hodge.

Hodge is an English actor and director who has been in many notable stage performances and BBC series. If he looked familiar, it may be because of his roles on Black Mirror and Penny Dreadful; he was in the episode titled “Black Museum” as the man who ran the museum, Rolo Haynes, and he was Bartholomew Rusk, a Scotland Yard police inspector, respectively.

Selma Blair As Jessica Harris

In flashbacks, viewers get to see Jessica Harris, the sister whose identity was stolen by June a.k.a. Dr. Smith. This supporting character is portrayed by actress Selma Blair.

And Selma Blair has been in so many iconic things over the years! In 1999, she was in Cruel Intentions as Cecile Caldwell. In 2001, she was in Legally Blonde as Vivian Thelma Kensington. In 2004, she was in Hellboy as Liz Sherman. Plus, she has been on TV, including on The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, when she played Kris Jenner.
