The Arrowverse’s upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths event will not feature Lucifer star Tom Ellis. This year’s Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover has many guest stars spanning from different shows. The saga will feature heroes from Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman, and even Black Lightning uniting to save the Multiverse from being destroyed by the Anti-Monitor(LaMonica Garrett). The impending adventure leading to the Crisis started in The Flash season 6 premiere and Arrow’s season 8 premiere.
Last weekend, rumors started circulating about Ellis’ involvement in the crossover as Lucifer Moringstar after a popular fan account tweeted that Ellis was spotted in Vancouver on the set of Crisis on Infinite Earths. The account reported that a scene was being filmed with David Ramsay (who plays John Diggle), Katherine McNamara (Mia Smoak), and Matt Ryan (John Constantine). Unfortunately, Ellis claims that it’s a rumor and nothing more.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the set of the fifth and final season of Lucifer, Ellis explained how fans could think he would make an appearance in the crossover, saying “This is what happens. I go to Vancouver for the weekend to visit my friend for his birthday and now suddenly I’m in a different show!” He then clarified that he doesn’t have a role in Crisis on Infinite Earths, telling ET’s Katie Krause that an appearance by Lucifer Morningstar is a “No. Hard pass. Sorry. Sorry fans.”
While Ellis won’t be included in the biggest crossover event for The CW this winter, there will be plenty of familiar faces for fans to be happy about. In addition to the cast of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Black Lightning for the first time ever, there will also be Smallville alums Tom Welling and Erica Durance reprising their roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Tyler Hoechlin will be suiting up once again as the Man of Steel from Supergirl, with Elizabeth Tulllcoh reprising her role as the Arrowverse’s Lois Lane. And on top of all that, Legends of Tomorrow’s Brandon Routh will finally reprise his Superman Returns role by bringing Kingdom Come Superman to life.
All things considered, Ellis would have been a perfect fit for the Arrowverse’s event. Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comics introduced his version of Lucifer, and the character is deeply rooted within the DC Comics mythology. Ellis may not be crossovering into the DC TV world anytime soon, but fans can catch him one last time as Lucifer in the show’s final season.
