The Royal Caribbean International announced a new season of domestic sailings and is eyeing vaccinated Australians as their passengers. They expect that by the summertime, officers will permit their ships to set sail.
The luxurious cruise liner expects one of its vessels to set sail from Sydney between December and March, as those are the months that attract the highest number of visitors in Australia. Since March 2020, foreign-flagged ships are banned from entering Australian waters, and the restrictions are not due to be lifted until September, but there are still no guarantees that the ban will be lifted.
The company now offers trips to destinations such as Hobart, Kangaroo Island, Airlie Beach, and Port Douglas.
Joel Katz, who is the Industry spokesman, said that since cruising was suspended, the Australian economy has lost more than $6 billion, and more than 18.000 local jobs are jeopardized.
