Apple’s new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar has slowly been making its way into the hands of consumers gradually over the past week and many have already started to offer up their opinions on the new machine. While the new Touch Bar models first hit retail stores earlier this week, they are now available for pickup in store via Apple’s website, as well.
As noted on Apple’s website, you can now order a new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar from the Apple Online Store and pick it up in store. As is usually the case with new products, pickup times vary wildly depending on your market. In general, the base $1799 Touch Bar model is available for same-day pickup in a decent number of markets, though the $1999 model is slightly harder to find for same-day pickup.
As far as the 15-inch models go, the $2399 model is widely not available for same-day pickup, while the $2999 model is even more scarce. As time progresses, though, this should improve and the machines will become readily available in Apple’s retail stores.
In the instances where the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is not available for same-day pickup, Apple lists December 30th as the pickup date, which coincidences with the 4-5 week shipping window it currently lists for all Touch Bar models. Given the widespread availability of the 13-inch Touch Bar model, however, it’s likely that the 4-5 week shipping window will start to decrease at some point in the near future for that model.
Reviews of the new MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar emerged earlier this week and noted of the device’s power and design improvements. As for the Touch Bar itself, reactions have been mixed thus far. Our own Jeff Benjamin noted in his hands-on that while he strongly disliked the Touch Bar at first, he’s slowly been growing more fond of it as he continues to use it and grow accustomed.
